Girl Meets Field: Glamping In Cornwall

Hello pals.

Somehow, my second year of university is officially over. All my exams are finished, and it's all just fun and games now until September, when I'll be off to Madrid (eeeeeep) for my year abroad! (So let's be honest, the fun and games won't stop there).

Anyway, so my housemates and I wanted to do something fun to celebrate surviving year two.

Staying in a yurt just seemed like the obvious choice really.

We booked to stay in the 'Skylark Tent' at West Kellow Yurts, just outside Polperro in Cornwall, and it couldn't have been cuter. We were even greeted by a welcome pack of Cornish cider and a little booklet telling us the best places to visit and restaurants to eat at in the area.

They have three yurts in total, as well as a wet room with a shower, toilet and sink, a small kitchen area, and a living area. (Complete with giant playing cards. A camping essential. #obvs)
Giant snap happened.

We were soon all settled in and loving the #yurtlyf.

Of course our first mission was finding a supermarket to buy food for dinner (#priorities), and after finding out the nearest village didn't even have a shop (bare rural), we finally made it to the town of Looe, full of cute cafés, shops and a little beach.

Perfect selfie conditions.

That evening, we got our gourmet on with the co-op's finest disposable BBQs, and we even had cucumber to go in our G&Ts (#weresofancywealreadyknow), not forgetting marshmallows for toasting on the campfire!

Day 2.

We were feeling fresh (ish).

We were ready for adventure.

We drove to a small fishing village called Polruan, with some seriously steep hills, which weren't so fun for the drivers of the trip (we love you Ailsa and Issy), but sure did make for some amazing views

As beautiful as Polruan was, I think we spotted one single pub in the entire village, and it wasn't even serving food (lame). So with our rumbling tummies leading the way, we hopped on a ferry that took us over to Fowey, and treated ourselves to a proper Cornish cream tea. (Ok, so I actually had a hot chocolate instead of tea, which sort of defeats the point but WHATEVER OK GUYS JEEEZ.)

After definitely walking up and down enough hills to work off all that clotted cream with more stunning seaside views, we returned to the campsite for some well-earned sunbathing in the warm, afternoon sun.

For the final night of our Cornwall adventure, we walked down into Polperro and had a delicious dinner at The Three Pilchards Inn, and discovered our new favourite cider #oldrosiesforthewin.

Scallops and king prawns. Treat yo'self.

Ok I'm not sure I got quite enough photos into this post, so I'll work on that.

I can't believe I won't be seeing these girls every day next year, but this was the perfect weekend to finish two amazing years with them!

I hope you enjoyed hearing about this incredible corner of the world, that I definitely recommend you visit for yourself!

Holly x
